I’ve just returned from what has been an amazing trip to South Africa, with aliases Nimi, Wheels, biglad, gavinalways and their guests. What a crazy four days we had, so full of exciting and extreme activities it felt like a lot longer!

Day 1

We flew over there on the night flight, and got picked up and taken to our luxury apartments, honestly they were gorgeous! Quick freshen up and we were off to the racetrack to get going with the training for the Formula One cars we would be driving. A little nerve-racking at first but once everyone settled in and saw their cars waiting in the drive with their name on, everyone soon felt at home! Got to do our first few laps in our own cars, such a rush I can’t describe it! Then in the evening it was out for the best steak in Cape Town with cocktails and beer. Perfect.

Day 2

Back to the racetrack, and we really got going this time. These cars go at about 200 kms per hour, which is pretty fast for us amateurs. I can honestly say it’s one of the best things I’ve ever done. We got the chance to overtake on the last couple of sessions. Wheels and gavinalways were burning it up and vying for the top spot on the podium. After each session everyone was getting more and more excited about their times, who they overtook on what corner etc! Awesome. So, who were the winners? 3rd was biglad for being the most consistently good driver, 2nd was me for being the most improved driver (yay!), and 1st was gavinalways.. for being the best driver!

After a quick snack we were off paragliding.. everyone was seriously bricking it. Actually the boys much more than the girls lol! Nimi and gavinalways said, “if the girls do it then we have to do it I guess” – so everyone ended up having a go. It was awesome. We got driven all the way up Signal Hill, and had to run and jump off the side of it. Argh! Nimi had a couple of false starts but got there in the end. It was so cool gliding down to Camps Bay over the city, on a little parachute. So cool.

We were then whisked off to Table Mountain for champagne and nibbles as the sun came down, the views really were breath-taking.

Day 3

A few of us had a pretty heavy night last night, and got dragged out of bed to go shark diving at 8.30am! Driving there the heavens open and we ended up not being able to go out on the sea due to the weather, so we stop off at a posh winery in Stellenbosch. Wine and very special food followed, which cleared the hang overs..

In the evening we were taken out by our South African hosts to an old bank for dinner. Beautiful high ceilings and the best food in town. Champagne and shots were aplenty, we then got chauffered to a club on the 32nd Floor of a tower with views of Cape Town. We danced the night away until the early hours, even biglad was on the dance floor!!

Day 4

Shark diving take two!! So, we made it onto the sea this time.. it was really choppy though and some of us were a little green. We saw one shark but it was pretty quick to leave. biglad got into the cage and scared him off! No surprises there then he he.

So once off the boat, a hearty fish and chips late lunch by the sea, and off to the airport. This was seriously the best event yet I think.

Just to give you an idea.. here are some of the comments we have received:

“I would go as far as saying this was the best 4 days away i've had in my life it was that good.”

“All the people on the trip were fantastic and great company and hope to meet them all again one day”

“The activities we did were just amazing and some of the best things I have experienced in my lifetime especially the race car driving, I even did some I never thought I would ever be able to do, like paragliding.”

“The way the trip was run was just perfect, everything was organised perfectly from the activities to the food and the transport, there was no hanging around or waiting for people, we had an itinerary every day and it was pretty much spot on every day.”

“I will be trying my best to win every VIP promotion and sure when others hear about the trips they will be too.”

“The 6 other guests (some I had met before) just helped make [South Africa] good and it’s this community feeling which separates laddies from other sites.”
